:
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars from Ramona -- A daughter's painful journey : This story is one that is hard to put down, despite the sad convoluted tale. Connie tells a rather biased view that is not always favorable to her. It gives you a sense of how she possessed survival instincts that could be self serving & narcissistic herself. These qualities allowed her to keep herself safe, but did not allow her to extract her loved ones from their abuser. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Dsgavidia -- beautifully written and an absolutely gut-wrenching story : The author writes of her mother and sister, who endured unspeakable abuse for decades at the hands of her father. Everyone in law enforcement and the court system need to read this and understand that it what they think they know about domestic violence is just the tip of the iceberg. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Donna -- I loved this book! : I just finished reading The Lonely Nest and it is a poignant, important work that should be read by everyone. Concetta Falcone Codding does a straightforward story, highlighting what happens to a family when abuse runs rampant. It is both difficult and comforting to read as it lets survivors know it didn't happen only in their house. It closed a circle for me and I am grateful to Concetta for using her talents and telling her story to honor her Mother and sister. Shine the light. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Joan Tinker -- Truth Sets Us Free : The author's talent for expressing love, hate and so many other emotions is surely a gift of God. I knew her sister, Janice for a very short time. I knew something was very wrong but never knew the life she endured. A neighbor, Gus Lorentz was a very good friend of my father. Because I grew up in Bozrah and attended Fields Memorial School I know many of the teachers and friends she mentions. The most important thought left with me is: There are no bad children only children who must live under destructive circumstances. I hope many will read this book. You will be glad you did. • 4.0 out of 5 stars from Beryl -- Well written : As a summer visitor to Bozrah and St. John's Mission Church, liked reading about local places. Sad story with a lesson to be learned. ( Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Toni -- Amazing true story : Hard to put down true story of family dynamics. Connie has the courage to admit what most cannot. Hard to fathom these things can actually happen, but they did, and Connie does a great job telling the story. I highly recommend this book. I can see it becoming a movie. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Diane S. -- Domestic Violence : This is a story that should be read by everyone. It is well written and exposes domestic violence in a family. ( Reviewed in the United States on November 3, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from nancy l long -- Very Powerful and healing : This book was very real intense but also healing I enjoyed it very much! ( Reviewed in the United States on November 3, 2021 )
